904 Redfish Tournament Rules and Regulations

Tournament Registration

  • May register online, at any registration event or at the Captain's Meeting.
  • The registration deadline is September 24th, 2026, at the Captain’s Meeting. May register up until the Captain's Meeting is over. (9pm)
  • By registering for the 904 Redfish Tournament and/or submitting payment, the captain and crew members agree to and has read all tournament rules and regulations.
  • Entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances

Captain's Meeting

  • The captain's meeting is MANDATORY. No exceptions.
  • Each boat MUST be represented at the captain's meeting by the captain and/or crew member(s) in order to be eligible to weigh in a fish on tournament day.
  • Tournament registration deadline is at the end of the Captain's Meeting. (9pm on September 24, 2026)

Fishing Rules

  • All anglers must follow all Florida Wildlife Conservation (FWC) rules and regulations.
  • 1-4 anglers per boat, including captain, lady angler(s) and junior angler(s). Up to two junior anglers per boat. 
  • Redfish MUST be of legal size to be eligible to weigh in for the 904 Redfish Tournament per FWC rules and regulations (18"-27")
  • Redfish MUST be caught the day of the tournament (9/26/26)
  • The fish must be caught with a hook and line with a rod & reel
  • May use live and/or artificial bait
  • Fishing begins at 7am on tournament day (9/26/26)
  • May fishing on a boat or kayak
  • NO transferring anything between boats, including but not limited to fish, tackle, bait or equipment
  • All anglers must have a valid Florida fishing license.
  • 904 Redfish Tournament has the right to request to see your fishing license.
  • All anglers must abide by the 904 Redfish Tournament rules and regulations as well as FWC rules and regulations & the state and federal rules and regulations. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. 

Weigh In

  • Weigh station times will be from 1pm-4pm
  • Redfish MUST be of legal size to be eligible to weigh in for the 904 Redfish Tournament per FWC rules and regulations (18"-27")
  • The redfish will be measured to verify legal length per FWC rules and regulations. Will be using the "perfect pincher"
  • You must check in at the weigh station before it closes in order to be eligible to weigh in a fish. NO exceptions
  • No weigh ins will be accepted before the weigh station is open
  • You must bring your boat number to the weigh in
  • Each boat may only weigh in ONCE 
  • It is a live weigh in. If your fish is dead there will be a 1-pound penalty. (Must be able to see the gills moving)
  • If you do not want to keep your redfish, you may leave it with the tournament director (Sara) & the redfish will be safely released.  
  • You may bring your fish to the weigh station by boat or trailer. Palm Valley Outdoors has a large dock and trailer parking.
  • You may only weigh in one fish per division. No weighing in the same fish for multiple divisions.
  • All anglers must bring their own fish to the weigh station (including junior and lady anglers)
  • Lady anglers must be registered in the lady angler division to be eligible to weigh in a fish.
  • Junior anglers must be registered in the junior angler division to be eligible to weigh in a fish.
  • Fish may be inspected at the tournament director’s discretion
  • In the event of a tie, the boat that weighs in first will win.

Awards

  • The winner will be determined by the weight of the redfish. The heaviest (legal) redfish wins
  • In the event of a tie, the boat that weighs in first will win.
  • It is a live weigh in. Therefore, if your fish is dead there will be a 1-pound penalty.
  • Current awards are based off a minimum of 75 boat entries and are subject to change. 

Boundaries

  • You may fish in all of the 904-area including St. Augustine and Jacksonville (see map at bottom of the page)
  • You may launch your boat anywhere within St. Augustine and Jacksonville, Florida
  • Any fish caught from land, dock, bridge, pier will NOT qualify for the tournament. 
  • You may fish from a boat or kayak

Additional Rules

  •  All captains and crew members are responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with all 904 Redfish Tournament rules, regulations, and requirements. 
  • All anglers must follow all Florida Wildlife Conservation (FWC) rules and regulations.
  • Junior anglers must be 6 to 14 years old and accompanied by an adult.
  • Anglers 15 years old and up will be in the regular division. 
  • If your boat is cited by FWC on tournament day, you will be disqualified.
  • The 904 Redfish Tournament has the right to reschedule for any unforeseen circumstances, such as weather. 
  • The 904 Redfish Tournament reserves the right to disqualify participation of any captain and/or crew member for violations of the tournament rules and regulations and/or violations of FWC rules and regulations.
  • All participants (including who accompanies them: crew members and observers) of the 904 Redfish Tournament are participating at their own risk. 
  • The 904 Redfish Tournament and the people directly or indirectly involved with the operations of the 904 Redfish Tournament are not liable for any damage or injury of any kind.
  • Every Captain (and crew members) operate their vessels and participate entirely at their own risk.
  •  Each captain, individually and in their capacity as the owner and/or operator of the vessel, and on behalf of their team, crew members, and all guests aboard, acknowledges and agrees that the 904 Redfish Tournament, its parent organization, affiliates, partners, directors, officers, employees, and agents shall be released from and held harmless against any and all liability, claims, demands, losses, damages, injuries, or expenses arising from or related to participation in the tournament, including any injury to persons or damage to property.  By registering for, signing up for, or participating in the tournament, the captain, crew members, and all guests aboard the vessel acknowledge, accept, and agree to be bound by the terms of this release and waiver of liability. 
  •  By registering for, submitting payment for, or participating in the 904 Redfish Tournament, the captain, crew members, and all guests aboard the vessel grant the 904 Redfish Tournament the unrestricted right to use, reproduce, publish, and distribute any photographs, video recordings, or other media in which they may appear for promotional, marketing, advertising, or other tournament-related purposes, without compensation or further consent. 
  •  By registering for the tournament and submitting payment, the captain, crew members, and all guests aboard the vessel acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by all tournament rules, regulations, and requirements. 
  • The 904 Redfish Tournament reserves the right to disqualify anyone for violations of any of the rules or regulations. 

Fishing Boundaries

You may fish within the 904 area code

Including Jacksonville, St. Augustine, Mayport, Ponte Vedra, Fernandina, (see map)

Will be going over the fishing boundaries at the Captain's Meeting.
